Have You Ever Made a Margarita with Egg White? It’s Delicious!

Celebrating what feels like the first day of summer with a nice margarita on a my roof deck with friends. It’s been a hell of a week and I earned it!

Here is the recipe for those that are interested in trying a margarita with egg whites in it. The frothiness that the egg white adds to the drink really brings it to a new level.

  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup (or to taste)
  • 1 egg white
  • Ice
  • Lime wedge and salt (for rimming the glass)
  • Optional: Lime zest or additional lime wedge for garnish

  1. Start by preparing your glass. Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of a margarita glass. Dip the rim of the glass into a plate with salt, ensuring it coats the entire rim. Set the glass aside.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, lime juice, triple sec, simple syrup, and egg white.
  3. Add a handful of ice to the shaker and close it tightly.
  4. Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds to emulsify the egg white and create a frothy texture.
  5. Open the shaker and strain the mixture into your prepared margarita glass.
  6. If desired, garnish with a lime zest or additional lime wedge.
  7. Serve and enjoy your creamy and frothy Margarita!

Please note: Consuming raw or undercooked eggs may increase the risk of foodborne illness. Make sure to use fresh and pasteurized eggs, and consult local health guidelines and regulations before using raw eggs in drinks.
